13 Squads contested the Thursday Program and 19 Squads completed the Friday, Saturday and Sunday Championships.  Weather was magic and contributed to the overall atmosphere.

A huge note of appreciation and thanks must be extended to those from the MGC who worked to make it such a successful carnival.

To Paul & Leonie Johnston, Laurie, Christine & Jacqui Durham, Jim Turner, Roger, Craig H, Cherilyn, Georgia, Lynden McK & Jim H and our trappers Mitch, Trent, Stewart & Rohan.  It was a mighty effort by all and no doubt made it enjoyable for all those who attended.

CLUB RESULTS: Christmas Shoot 2016

'Christmas Chaos' came to the MGC but in varying ways...

18 DTL & 12 Skeet Squads presented for our Christmas Shoot. The Office Staff were in 'organised chaos' trying to squad as per the many requests that came with the entries.  The Shoot Masters were in 'controlled chaos' as they tried to manage having the program running smoothly and finally the Shooters were in 'utter chaos' as DTL shooters who entered Skeet tried to manage the hitting the targets, with the same applying to the Skeeties who entered DTL.  It was a great day to be at the Club with the day rounding off with our Xmas Evening.

To add to the evening’s frivolity, all joined in with the singing of Happy Birthday to our esteemed, Vice President, Craig Henwood.  Later the lights were dimmed and a birthday cake appeared but Craig quickly blew out the candles before they could be counted!

Sincere thanks and appreciation must be extended to all those who contributed in any way to make this a wonderful day for all who attended.  From the offers of salads and sweets, venison, wines, raffle donations, to our  volunteers who worked tirelessly all day to keep the 'Christmas chaos' under control.

With over 120 guests for the evening meal, special thanks must be extended to the Ladies who assisted with the serving and cleaning up after, and to Jim Turner & Frank Santoro for slaving over a hot spit roast ensuring the beef, pork and venison was cooked to perfection.

With Hams being the prizes, there is no doubt that there will be pork on the fork at many Christmas gatherings this year.  Congratulations to all place getters.

The President & Committee wishes all a very happy and safe festive season.  May 2017 bring everyone good health and wellbeing.

Don't forget to check our January Shoot Program for full details of the events being held at the Melbourne Gun Club.

Congratulations to Thomas Armstrong, Champion of Champion’s and Single Barrel, Paul Grand-Court, Point Score and Jack Wallace, Double Barrel. All winners will be noted on the MGC’s 'Champion of Champion’s' Honour Board.

7 DTL & 3 Skeet Squads presented for the planned program. The weather couldn’t make up its mind whether to rain, be cold and windy or just sunny.

Great to have a Skeet Competition, be it a small number of squads but never the less, those who supported enjoyed the day.

To all MGC Members off to Echuca for the State Titles next weekend, the best of luck to you all for a very successful competition. Some reports and photos would be most welcomed!

Melbourne Gun Club 'Come & Try' Day Bookings

Due to the popularity of the Melbourne Gun Club Come & Try Days, the October 29th, November 12th and 26th dates are fully booked out. There is no December event.

The Club has enjoyed holding these days with over 560 guests coming along for the year and learning about the sport of clay target shooting. Some go on to join the Club and be more involved within the sport.

A note of appreciation is extended to those MGC Members who assist with the running of these days. Without this help, it would not be possible to host these events which bring so many Guests to experience clay target shooting.

The Committee is now planning the 2017 dates and this information will be listed on our website and Facebook page very shortly.
