CLUB RESULTS: 13/09/2014

12 DTL, 4 Skeet & 3 Trench teams enjoyed the warm spring weather and great day of competitions including the ISSF Trench Peter & Jean Wray Cup!

Thanks to all the Visitors and Club Members who supported on the day!

CONGRATULATIONS Jack on winning silver in the Junior World Championships ISSF Trap!

CONGRATULATIONS to Jack Wallace for winning the silver medal in the Junior World Championships for ISSF Trap held in Granada, Spain.

After the 5 qualifying rounds Jack entered the final in 2nd place with a great score of 121/125 (23-24-24-25-25).

In the single barrel semi final Jack shot a great 13/15 to qualify him for the gold medal match against Ian O'Sullivan from Ireland.  Unfortunately for Jack the gold wasn't to be with Ian shoot 13/15 to Jack's 11/15 but still a fantastic effort.

CONGRATULATIONS Mitch on winning the World ZZ Championship!

CONGRATULATIONS to Melbourne Gun Club member Mitchell Iles who has just won the Overall World ZZ Championship in Bologna, Italy.

225 shooters entered the event and Mitch was tied after 40tgts with 3 other shooters. In the shoot off Mitch shot 9/10 to be crowned the 2015 World Champion!! An amazing effort at 15. Mitch of course also won the Junior World Championship!

Mitch and his grandfather Bill elected to stay on in Italy to shoot the event after the World Universal Trench Championships. Bill finished a creditable 4th in the Super Veterans category.

World Universal Trench Championships – Lonato, Italy

A total of 10 individual shooters from Australia made the long haul with some support crew (parents, grandparents, coaches, friends, wives) to Lonato in Italy to compete in the 32nd World Championships in Universal Trench Shooting.

Shooters to make the journey were: Jeff Tonna, Mitch Iles (with grandfather Bill), Craig Henwood, Taylah-Jane Turner, Kelly Coogan, Lachlan Holdsworth (with Mum Jenny & Dad Andrew), James Willett (with coach Graeme), Steve Trembath (with wife Megan) & Colin and Clint Kneebone.

CLUB RESULTS: 30/08/2014

Great conditions for the 10 DTL & 3 Skeet Squads who came to contest the program.  The Committee expresses their sincere thanks and appreciation to Sheridan Morley and Ian Fraser who generously sponsored the DTL Dash For Cash competition.

Well done Jack!

Congratulations to Jack Wallace who has brought home the bronze medal from the International Grand Prix at Gabala, Azerbaijan!  Jack shot a top qualifying score of 123/125 which was equal first with world #1 Alexey Alipov of Russia.

In the semi-final stage, Jack entered a three-way shoot-off for the bronze medal match winning by two targets.

Jack will now head off to Granada, Spain, in early September for the World Championships.

Melbourne Gun Club / Lilydale High School Juniors

Over the last 6 months students from Lilydale High School have been regularly attending Melbourne Gun Club after school on Wednesday.  This year 20 – 25 students have regularly attended these weekly sessions.

On Thursday 7th of August,  22 of these students attended the South East Region school championship at Frankston gun club.  In total 253 students shot on the day.  The Lilydale High students performed exceptionally well.

Cold and chilly conditions outside, open wood fire, gas heating and good company inside the nearly completed refurbished club house certainly made the day more enjoyable for the 9 DTL and 5 Skeet teams who entered the competitions.

THANK YOU: Barry Humphris & Mt Evelyn Garden Centre

The Committee are currently having the old dead tree stumps removed and tidying up the club grounds.

Club Member Barry Humphris from Mt Evelyn Garden Centre (www.MtEvelynGardenCentre.com.au | 9737-0851 | 126 York Road, Mt Evelyn, 3796) has generously offered to donate 50 gum tree seedlings for the planting of new trees to further add improvement to the club grounds.

From all at the club, thank you Barry for this donation which is very much appreciated.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: MGC Canteen Operation 2014

The Melbourne Gun Club Committee have been advised that Mrs. Wendy Lagos, for personal reasons, will not be continuing as Manager of the MGC canteen.  Wendy has indicated she will stay until new management can be found.  The MGC Committee and Members would like to express their sincere appreciation to Wendy for her all wonderful efforts and great catering during her time with us.

As such the Committee seeks Expressions of Interest from any individuals or groups either internal or external, who may wish to operate the MGC canteen.

CLUB RESULTS: 12/07/2014

With the day forecast to bring hail, sleet, snow and 20 mm of rain and not eventuating, this allowed the 7 DLT and 4 Skeet Teams to enjoy the program without any stoppage.

A warm welcome was extended to the MGC Skeet Members who attended to compete for their annual challenge and congratulations on their win.

MGC Committee News

Due to work commitments interstate, Matt Dunkley has tendered his resignation from the Committee.

On behalf of the Committee and Members, I would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Matt for all his hard work and input during the time He has served on the previous and present Committees, and his willingness to support all projects, competitions  and general club activities.

4 DTL Squads braved the very cold and bleak wintery conditions and the Committee would like to express their appreciation to those who supported the day.

Skeet Competition was again cancelled, but Members held a practice session instead.
