REPORT: Mansfield VS Melbourne Gun Glub

It seems this event happened but not much information is being spoken about around the Club.

Obviously the MGC team attended, but somehow failed to bring along their game play with only Roger Esplin winning.

Many varied reasons were given for their poor shooting results, few plausible, mostly all of them not, but at the end of the day congratulations must be given to Mansfield for a great win and very  social and hospitable time.

Growing Old & Incontinent…

Being a faithful water tank of the MGC for 30 years plus and suddenly developing a leak, the hierarchy consulted 'Dr. Rob Carter' who diagnosed no further treatment could be undertaken to cure the illness and suggested that retirement and a new poly tank replacement would be the best option.

I have been given my final notice and will end my days at the Lilydale Tip Retirement Village.

REPORT: 2015 Victorian State Skeet Carnival

There were a few things that were noticed when the shooters started arriving on the 29th of January at Melbourne Gun Club for the commencement of the 2015 Victorian State Skeet Carnival.

Firstly, the grounds, as always, were immaculately presented.

Secondly, MGC had become home to a band of travelers, with tents and caravans littering the grounds housing skeet family from all over Australia.

Thirdly, although summer was in full swing, the weather was less than favourable, with strong winds playing havoc with the targets and a chill in the air.  Despite the gusty conditions though, 107 of the country’s best shooters visited one of Victoria’s premier gun clubs and were excited to get proceeding underway.

CLUB RESULTS: 14/02/2015

All Roger wanted was rain to help refresh the grounds and have them back to their green state.  Even went to the lengths of a little rain dance to help the situation.  Well it rained and it rained and it rained a lot more!  But why Saturday morning when we needed the sun to shine?

Corporate Shoot and Come & Try guests were able to to participate and had a very enjoyable time despite the wet conditions.  3 Universal Trench and 5 DTL squads then endured hot and very humid afternoon.

Our 'Skeeties' had a practice time instead of competition and the Club wishes all our members who are off to the SA Skeet Titles the very best of luck to you all (the webmaster is as well so there is no excuse why we will not have a report and photos on your success posted on the website).

CLUB RESULTS: 07/02/2015

If you were present at the Club last Saturday you would have found it a bee hive of activity!  With a Come & Try Day, a Corporate Shoot, Club Practice, Club Competition with 10 DTL & 3 Skeet Squads participating and old members re-joining and new members joining up, the car park was near full to capacity.

Added to the mix, was hot and humid weather as well.  BUT GUESS WHAT - it will happen all again next Saturday but also adding a Universal Trench Competition to the program!

Who said the Melbourne Gun Club wasn’t the 'in place' to be on a Saturday?

Don't forget to check our February Shoot Program for full details of the events being held at the Melbourne Gun Club.

REPORT: Handicap event sponsored by Lokaway Safes

On Saturday 7th of February our 50 Tgt Handicap event was proudly sponsored by Lokaway Safes with a brand new gun safe up for grabs for the lucky winner.

It was also our jackpot day with $1,100 up for grabs to any shooters who could shoot the card clean for the day of 50 DB & 50 HCP.

A good crowd of 50 shoooters had entered the event which was held on a funny Melbourne day.

We experienced the lot, hot warm weather, a shower of rain, cloud and wind to keep the shooters all on their toes.
