CLUB RESULTS: 13th & 14th May 2017

The 2 Day Skeet Bonanza, along with ISSF Trench & DTL Competitors, the previous weekend and this weekend 31 Come & Try Guests and 116 Competitors for the 2017 Victorian State ISSF Championships, incorporating  the Commonwealth Games Round 2 Selection Trials, along with Wednesday, Thursday and Friday deemed practice days, the Club has been in running at a high level of activity!

The daily 'fog blankets' and minus temperatures made it a chilly start for the campers and competitors but the sun did appear in the afternoon.

A very big vote of appreciation must be extended to Roger Esplin & Craig Henwood for the massive amount of work that was required for this past weekend to be organised, and to make these championships run as successful as they did.  To all our other members and guests who contributed, in any way, shape or form, thank you.  As always, our volunteer assistance is greatly appreciated.

On another note, did you see our own Tony Hopkins star on the weekend tv news?  Tony all decked out in his 'red baron' flying outfit has now crossed one more item off his 'bucket list' by soaring over the MGC Grounds in a Tiger Moth last Saturday afternoon.  Along with several other members of Mercy Place, Montrose, they enjoyed their flight at the Yering Airport.

We have done it - Melbourne Gun Clubs five months of madness is now over!

This year our club has already hosted the following:

  • Victorian State Skeet Titles
  • 3 Day Yarra Valley DTL Championships
  • National Universal Trench Championships
  • 2 Day Skeet Bonanza
  • Yarra Valley School Person Shoot
  • Victorian State ISSF Championships

So if your committee have looked a little stressed the first 5 months of the year this is why as you can imagine a heap of work in the background to ensure these events run smoothly.  All of the above events also drew great crowds with 3 of the events having record numbers which means we must be doing something right.  A big thank you to all committee and members and guests who have helped out in any way to make all of these events happen.
